Baked Figs

INGREDIENTS
  • 12 Fresh ripe figs
  • Butter (for baking dish)
  • Sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Powdered cloves (for sprinkling)
  • 1/4 Warmed liqueur (such as Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Curacao, or Benedictine)
  • Whipped cream
PROCEDURE

1. Prick 12 fresh ripe figs in several places with the tines of a fork and arrange the figs in a buttered baking dish. Sprinkle them generously with sugar and add 1/2 cup water. Bake the figs in a slow oven (300 ° F) for about 30 minutes, or until they are tender, basting them frequently with the syrup.

2. Remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle them generously with sugar and add 1/2 cup warmed liqueur and ignite the spirit.

3. Serve with whipped cream sweetened to taste and flavored with the liqueur.
